2.1 Local Mode

When using k|noto in local mode (without an account), we collect no personal information. All your data (tasks, documents, subscriptions) is stored exclusively on your device and never transmitted to our servers.

2.2 Cloud Mode (with account)

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address: Used for authentication and account recovery
  • Name: Optional, used for personalization
  • Your content: Tasks, documents, and subscriptions you create are stored on our servers to enable synchronization

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

  • Provide and maintain the Application
  • Synchronize your data across devices
  • Send important service notifications
  • Respond to your support requests

We do not:

  • Sell your personal information to third parties
  • Use your data for advertising purposes
  • Share your content with third parties
  • Analyze your content for any purpose other than providing the service

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (supabase.com). We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)
  • Encryption at rest
  • Row-level security policies
  • Regular security audits

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as you maintain an active account. Upon account deletion:

  • All your content is permanently deleted from our servers
  • Deletion is irreversible - we recommend exporting your data before deleting your account
  • Some anonymized usage statistics may be retained for service improvement

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Export all your data at any time in Markdown format
  • Rectification: Update or correct your personal information
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
  • Portability: Export your data in standard formats

7. Calendar Integration

If you use the CalDAV calendar integration feature, a unique token is generated that allows external calendar applications to access your tasks with due dates. This token:

  • Can be regenerated or revoked at any time
  • Only provides read access to tasks with due dates
  • Does not expose any other personal information

8. Cookies and Analytics

The Application uses minimal cookies necessary for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services.

9. Children's Privacy

The Application is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
